Jazel Tricia Serate
At the age of four, Jazel Tricia Serate began her dance training in Southern California at Inland Pacific Ballet. She studied there for eight years then went on to train at Ballet Pacifica Conservatory, Southland Ballet Academy, Yuri Grigoriev School of Ballet, and the Colburn School of Performing Arts, where she graduated from the Professional Training Program. Since age thirteen, Jazel has attended summer dance programs around the country with professional dance companies such as Pittsburgh Ballet Theater, Boston Ballet, and American Ballet Theater. Throughout her training, she studied various dance forms, such as classical ballet, jazz dance, Horton and Graham modern technique, and also trained in pointe work, partnering, character dance, yoga, Pilates, and Gyrotonics. In 2010, Jazel created her first original work of choreography, called “Bell’Amoure” for the Colburn School and in the same year choreographed for the musical, Joseph the Dreamer, performed at the Alex Theater. Jazel went on to earn her B.A. in Dance at Loyola Marymount University. Upon graduating, she completed the 500-hour teacher certification with Body, Arts, & Science International, known as BASI Pilates. Fascinated by the human body, Jazel plans to pursue a carrer in physical therapy utilizing Pilates in her treatment. Jazel has recently moved to the El Paso area, where she began training in aerial arts at Academy of Aerial Fitness, under the direction of Karolyn Narvaez. Jazel became a guest artist with El Paso Ballet Theater in 2017. She also joined the aerial and dance company, Circus Knights, in June 2018 performing in dance trapeze, lyra, and go-go dance. Jazel currently teaches private Pilates Reformer sessions at El Paso Ballet Theatre as well as Pilates Mat, yogalates, barre, lyra (aerial hoop), and aerial yoga classes. Jazel has most recently joined Human Nature Contemporary Ballet. She is very excited to continue growing at an artist, sharing her love for movement, and inspiring others to move themselves.
